Internet vs The Web

     The Internet was a revolutionary invention that was conceived  through the imaginations and hard work of hundreds of people over a period of several decades. While Robert Kahn and Victor Cerf are credited with it's invention, the reality is that the internet came into being through a period of technological evolution, making it almost impossible to truly just give the credit to one or two people.       The Sputnik's creation in 1957 by the Russians propelled the United States into a nation wide panic and scramble towards technological and scientific innovation.  The military scientists of the U.S. particularly feared that a Russian attack could damage telephone lines, therefore severely hindering long-distance communication nationwide. In order to counteract this, in 1962 an M.I.T scientist by the name of  J.C.R Licklider proposed a "galactic network" of computers that were able to communicate with each other.        Hello! My name is Emily Huff, and I'm a Freshman at UT studying Public Relations. I've from Hawaii, but I've also lived in Rhode Island, Florida, Indiana, and Italy. In high school, I was the captain of our school's Mock Trial team, the President of Hui  Mālama o Mililani (an environmental service learning club), and Head of Set Design and Construction with the theater program at our school. When I wasn't busy with my extracurricular or with homework - a rare thing to happen, but I did get some free time occasionally- I enjoyed reading, volunteering, researching my own personal interests to learn new things, going to the beach, and drinking a questionable amount of tea.       I'm in Cohort B, so I had my first in person-class in the second session of Wednesday.
